An agreement with Thermo Fisher Scientific

    Thermo Fisher Scientific

Québec, October 4th, 2007 --- Phytronix Technologies Inc., a young Quebec company specializing in scientific instrumentation, announced earlier today that it had concluded an agreement with world leader Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. "For Phytronix Technologies, this major agreement confirms the global distribution of its LDTD technology (Laser Diode Thermal Desorption) as this industry giant in the field of life sciences will now offer LDTD as the new ionization technology on its mass spectrometers" confirmed Phytronix' president, Mr. Jean Lacoursière.

An ultra-high-speed technology designed for large sample volumes (High Throughput analysis)

The LDTD technology, developed by Phytronix, increases the speed of analysis for the compounds (medication, steroids, antibiotics,...) by 20 to 100 times compared to established techniques based on liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry.

Various pharmaceutical companies throughout the world are already using LDTD. This technology allows pharmacokinetic studies in less than 10 minutes as well as enzyme inhibition trials in 18 minutes rather than the 10 hours presently required with chromatographic techniques. Today, the LDTD technology is established in laboratories with weekly analysis capacity exceeding 40,000 samples.

The LDTD Technology: towards faster discoveries of new drugs

The LDTD technology (Laser Diode Thermal Desorption) uses a laser diode allowing the thermal desorption of a solid sample and its direct introduction into the mass spectrometer within a few seconds. This device is used to identify and quantify the molecules present in the sample. « At a time where mass spectrometry has become, over the past years, the analysis technique par excellence in the bio-pharmaceutical laboratories, the addition of the LDTD technology will certainly increase its utilisation and, also, allow for a faster discovery of new drugs » added Mr. Lacoursière.

    About Phytronix Technologies:

Founded in 2000, Phytronix Technologies is based in the heart of Québec City, in the "carrefour de la Nouvelle Économie". The company produces and markets laboratory scientific instruments and distributes to most of the scientific laboratories in Eastern Canada.

Phytronix services the instruments of large companies and applies customized solutions. Since its establishment, the company shows a growth of 20 to 25% per year and forecasts that, with this new agreement, Phytronix will be shot into the lead towards new summits.
